When you want to secure your home the best thing to have are deterrents. You really don’t want to be in a position where you have to rely on a door security bar or door armor reinforcement. Sometimes the best thing to have are solar powered motion sensor floodlights that make dark areas around your home bright and will expose anyone that is up to no good. So I have decided to take a look at the best solar powered motion sensor lights.

Why solar powered? Ease of installation and cost effective. As far as floodlights and security lights go, solar power is better because all you have to worry about is where do you need them. The sun takes care of the power problem.

If they are not solar powered, many times you are prevented from putting them exactly where you need them because of the “how to get power to them” question.

You are left using extension cables or running to the hardware store to get a longer cable. Or worse, hiring an expensive electrician to run wire so they can be installed.

It’s a Low Cost Security Alternative

Solar powered security lights are also cost effective. There is no cost for electricity because it is free, courtesy of the sun.

You also save money on installation because there are no wires. In addition, your time is saved because these are easy to install with just one or two screws.

Many times solar powered security lights cost the same or less than wired security lights. So because of their low cost and easy installation a lot of people buy 4 or more to light exterior stairs, walkways or every side of their house.

These are especially effective for people who have animal pens that are vulnerable to predators. It is a low cost option that scares predators away due to the motion sensor activating the light.

Most new outdoor lighting uses LED instead of the traditional bulb. LED uses less electricity and is more energy efficient. As a general rule, the more LEDs a light has the brighter it will be. The brightness of the light is rated in lumens, generally more lumens the brighter the light from the lamp.

These lights and others like them are definitely a great idea for home security and extra lighting around a house or even a garage.

The brighter the better in my opinion.  The options are numerous and are perfect for reducing our environmental footprint and reducing electricity costs.  We have managed to do that in our current home with the addition of LED lighting and have already noticed the difference in our electric bill so, it seems like a no brainer to add solar lighting to the outside.

My wife and I are moving in a couple of months and the area we are moving to has no street lights so it’s going to be pretty dark at night.  These would be a great addition to the security cameras that are already installed on the outside of our new home.

LED lighting in all forms is the way of the future so, for sure I will be back when we get settled in and check this out again.

Great information, thanks,

Wayne

Indeed these lights are really nice for security purposes because they become brighter when they sense motion through their sensor and this can give us the awareness that there is motion out there and this motion can be animals or humans. Nice and intelligent stuff! They’re efficient and cost effective.

Hello Bill. Thank you for sharing this post on the best solar powered motion sensor lights. I really love this post because I studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering for my OND & HND. We even have most of these motion sensor lights in our school environment and they work just fine.

Thank you for sharing that news. I’m always happy to hear when homes and businesses increase their security.

Those motion sensor lights are some of the best quality I’ve seen at incredible prices. Even better that they are all solar powered with long lasting battery power and easy installation. I would have to choose the dual head spotlights for the 360 degree directional adjustment and the life span of the battery compared to the super cheap ones I’ve ran across. This was a very informative article that will come in great handy.

Thank, for this great post about solar lights we can use in our home, solar lights have really been the kind of light I could have gotten when I wanted to fix up the light in our new house, but I really thought it would be expensive because it’s not using electricity, but really they are very affordable,  this post as made us know that thanks, but I wanna ask I have a small puppy in the house can the LITOM Original Solar Lights have a good ray of light effect towards any big prey coming to attack her?thanks

None of these, including the LITOM, have sounds. They are strictly lights that come on or get brighter when detecting movement. If you want sound, I would suggest the Ring Floodlight. With that you get a notification on your phone if motion is detected and it has a two way speaker system and a siren so predators and intruders can hear you or a siren sound through the external speaker.

I did not realise how reasonably priced these solar powered security lights could be!  I will be looking at those now, a couple for the back of my store and a few for my home.  Great information.  I’ve wired the traditional electrical ones and I have little interest in doing that again, so this is a great option!

Hey Rob, glad you found us then. I like the solar powered because it keeps it simple.
